Three year old Shaymaa is from Heet in Iraq. She was born with the congenital heart defect Tetrology of Fallot but, unable to receive the life-saving treatment she needed in Iraq, she was referred to Chain of Hope. Chain of Hope’s medical board recommended her for emergency treatment and in June 2014 we brought her to The Harley Street Clinic in London. Many of The Harley Street Clinic’s medical staff volunteer their time to help Chain of Hope and The Harley Street Clinic also donates time and space for children to have life-saving cardiac surgery. Shaymaa underwent a successful surgery performed by Martin Kostoelny and is pictured here feeling much better after her operation. Shaymaa is now recovering back at home and we hope she will continue to improve.
